A safe place to start.

Third helps you safely record what’s happening, in your own time, without reporting anything before you’re ready.

  • "This fills a critical gap for women who aren't ready to report but need a way to start documenting safely"

    — IDVA, UK Charity

  • We see women every day who aren't ready to report. Third gives them a way to start somewhere.

    — Domestic abuse support worker

  • The biggest barrier is often not recognising abuse or feeling ready to act. This meets women in that space

    — Women’s charity practitioner

Things to know before downloading Third:

  • Third works like any other app on your phone.

    This means:

    • It will appear on your device like other apps you download

    • We don’t notify anyone that you’ve downloaded or are using Third

    • We don’t share your information with other people or organisations

If you’re concerned about privacy on your device, you may want to explore features like app hiding or phone security settings.

  • No, you can use Third without an email address.

You have two options when setting up your account:

    • Use an email address
This allows you to recover your account if you lose access to your device.

    • Use a secret passphrase
This means you don’t need to share any personal details, but if you lose your passphrase, your account can’t be recovered.

You can choose the option that feels safest for you.

  • You can choose the option that feels safest for you:

    • Email login

      • Easier to recover access

      • You can log in on a new device

      • Your records remain accessible if you lose your phone

    • Secret passphrase

      • No email or personal details required

      • Only you know the passphrase

      • No way to recover access if it’s lost

It’s a balance between convenience and maximum privacy. You’re in control of which matters most.

  • It depends on how you set up your account.

    • If you signed up with an email address:
You can recover your account on a new device using a code sent to your email and you’ll regain access to your records.

    • If you use a secret passphrase:
Your account can only be accessed with that passphrase. If it’s lost, your records can’t be recovered.

This option is designed for those who want an extra level of privacy and control.

  • No your personal records (logs, images, and files) are not accessible to us.

Some limited information is stored so the app can function (like responses to in-app questions or timestamps), but:

    • Access is strictly controlled

    • It isn’t used to identify you

    • We don’t monitor individual users

  • No. Third is free to use.

We’ve built Third to make support and documentation more accessible, without creating additional barriers.

  • If you’d like to support Third, there are a few ways you can help:

    • Donate to help us keep Third free and accessible

    • Share Third with someone who might need it

    • Talk about it - awareness matters

Every bit of support helps us reach more women, earlier - before they’re ready to report, and when they need it most.

However you use Third, it’s yours.

Make sense of what’s happening.
Keep a dated record - just in case.
Or simply write things down and leave them there.

You might return to your logs.
You might not.

You’re in control throughout.
